From May 1st, 2018 to June 7th, 2018, the Meena Pabari Foundation organized a book drive event focused on collecting books for underprivileged children in Houston, via the Books Between Kids charity, which distributes books to underprivileged children in the Houston area.
Our original goal was to collect 200 books via raising $200 in donations that would be used to buy new books that we could donate, as well as receive a few donations of gently used books. Instead, we smashed our goal and ended up collecting 1259 books! We did raise $218 in donations from Sunisha Choksi, Bhavana Babber, and Ashish Pabari, which was used to buy 200 books from Scholastic. On top of that, we received a donation of approximately 450 books from Half Price Books Montrose, and received another approximately 350 books from various awesome people who dug through their gently used books and donated. Big thanks to Bhavana Babber, Rashmi Pabari, and Sapana Sampson for organizing and collecting so many book donations.
On June 7th, 2018, the books were delivered to the Books Between Kids headquarters at 9947 Harwin Drive, Houston, TX 77036. They were received by Trenton Ormsbee-Hale of Books Between Kids to be delivered to children in need across the Houston area.
